For me, this is the beginning of Stevie’s prime… Talking Book, Innervisions, Fullfillingness First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life.

My best Stevie memory is when he performed ‘Superstition’ live at John & Yoko’s One to One concert in NYC in August 1972 at Madison Square Garden (my first concert, at age 14). This was before the single was released. Five months later in January 1973, it hit No. 1.

Later that year, my aunt & uncle took me to Stevie’s concert at MSG. Expecting to hear his radio hits, it was instead a super long funk jam of a show, which I loved. My aunt and uncle hated it! I saw Sly & the Family Stone that year as well!

My favorite album of his is Talking Book.

I always loved the bumpy braille message on the jacket, Even though I didn’t know the meaning of it, I would imagine what it could possibly say. I learned that more information and deeper meanings can be gained from physically touching words.

Years later, I looked it up. It says…
