Rock On Robert!

We lost Robert Gordon on Oct. 18, 2022

I have wonderful memories of seeing Robert’s rockin’ shows so many times. What a gorgeous voice too!

And incredible hair! I remember Dinah Shore asking him if he had stuck his finger in a light socket on her tv show. So silly.

My favorite memory of Robert is going to my local mall on Long Island (Roosevelt Field) to buy his new album Rock Billy Boogie. I was wearing my Robert Gordon badge.

There was a band setting up outside the Record World store. I asked a guy who was playing that day and he said, “Who is on your badge? I said, “Robert Gordon, but who is playing today?”

We kept going back and forth with our “Who’s on first?’ Dialogue until I realized that the guy I was speaking to was the great Chris Spedding, and that Robert Gordon was actually going to perform in a few minutes…

RIGHT THERE IN THE MALL

Soon, Robert and his band, including Chris Spedding took the stage. The whole place, including grandmothers, kids, aunts and uncles – all rocked out to his amazing set!

After the show, Robert did an autograph signing at the record store.

Here is my treasured signed album!!

RIP Robert – Rock, Rock, Rockabilly Boogie!!

Love,

Madeline
