I would like to know more about Cheap Trick’s involvement with the sessions and their collaboration with John on “I’m Losing You”. And how did the Turtles get picked for background vocals?
Cheap Trick came at the invitation of Jack Douglas, They recorded a version of “I’m Losing You,” which John decided against because he didn’t care for Rick Nielsen’s guitar sound, which he said was “too heavy metal.” The style of that recording would have clashed with the rest of the album. The version on the album conveys John’s sound and vision in 1980. I’m not sure about the Flo & Eddie connection.
The version of I’m loosing you by Cheap Trick, is awesome, for me better the album version.
